Parts for WATSUL are contained in the box and include the magnetic WATSUL game board, 16 magnetic pegs (four different colors), a pair of dice, 300 tokens, Instructions, and TOURNAMENT SCORE SHEETS. Players may agree to increase the number of tokens distributed to each player before a TOURNAMENT game starts. An inexpensive token substitute is pennies.
OBJECT OF THE GAME The object of WATSUL is to be the first player to move all 4 pegs from their OUT BOX to their HOME BOX.
BASIC WATSUL INSTRUCTIONS (WATSUL is best played by 4 players)
Each player picks a color and puts their four PEGS in their OUT BOX.
All players roll both dice in turn. The player with highest total starts the game by rolling the dice.
A player can move from OUT BOX to START by rolling a 1 or 6.
A player uses dice numbers to move around the board.
Each number of each die can be used to move two PEGS or both numbers can be added to move one PEG.
A player moves pegs clockwise from START toward their HOME BOX.
When all four PEGS reach HOME BOX, the game is won.
A player can move to the SHORT CUT using one or both numbers.
A PEG can exit SHORT CUT to its adjacent corner by rolling a 1 or 6.
A player may enter a SAFE HOLE but can exit the SAFE HOLE only by rolling a 1.
A player must move a PEG if possible.
A player may not pass or hit one of their own PEGS.
A PEG may HIT an opponent and send them to their OUT BOX.
Only one PEG may occupy a hole at a time.
A 1,6 or a 6,6 roll is called a “WATSUL.”
A player gets an additional turn if they roll a WATSUL.
If a player rolls a COLOSSULWATSUL, they win the game immediately.
A COLOSSULWATSUL occurs by rolling two WATSULS and being able to move a PEG from OUT BOX to HOME BOX in two consecutive rolls using the SHORT CUT hole.
AN EXAMPLE: Red rolls a 3,6. Red uses the 6 to move to their START and then moves that PEG 3 holes forward. Yellow rolls a 1,6. Yellow use the 1 to enter their START and then move 6 holes forward. Yellow elects to move into SHORT CUT using the 6. Yellow rolls again (Yellow rolled a WATSUL on roll one) and rolls a 3,6. Yellow elects to move the SHORT CUT PEG to a corner hole using the 6 and then move it 3 holes forward. (If Yellow had rolled a 6,6 or a 1,6 on their second roll, Yellow would have rolled a COLOSSULWATSUL and won the game immediately by moving that PEG to HOME thereby moving from OUT BOX to HOME BOX in two consecutive rolls). BLUE rolls a 3,5. Blue cannot move out of OUT BOX and loses their turn. Green rolls a 5,6 and uses a 6 to enter their START and the 5 to advance 5 holes.
WATSUL BASIC 3 TOURNAMENT Four players play games until one participant wins three games. That player wins the tournament. A WATSUL BASIC 3 TOURNAMENT score sheet is included in the instructions.

WATSUL TOKEN TOURNAMENT (winner is the player with the most tokens at the end of the TOURNAMENT). Four players are each given 75 tokens before the start of the game. A decision must be made as to how many games will be played for the TOURNAMENT (select 3-9 games). Before each game each player antes one chip into the WATSUL POT (you can use a coffee mug). When a player gets one PEG into their HOME box, that player may contribute one chip to the WATSUL POT. All other players must call the bet by placing one TOKEN into the WATSUL POT or be eliminated from the game. When a player gets his second PEG into their HOME box, that player may contribute 2 TOKENS to the WATSUL POT. All other players must call the bet by placing 2 TOKENS into the WATSUL POT or withdraw from the game. (The price of withdrawing from a game is the contribution of one chip for every peg that is left in your OUT BOX when you withdraw). The same procedure is used when a player gets their third PEG into their HOME box. At the end of the game, each non-winning player must place one chip in the WATSUL POT for each peg that remains in their OUT BOX. The contents of the WATSUL POT are then awarded to the winner. At the end of the WATSUL TOKEN TOURNAMENT, the player with the most chips wins the TOURNAMENT.
WATSUL POKER TOURNAMENT(winner is the player with the most tokens at the end of the TOURNAMENT). Four players play a WATSUL POKER TOURNAMENT which is played in a similar manner as a WATSUL TOKEN TOURNAMENT with the following changes: When a player gets a PEG into their HOME BOX, that player may contribute 2 TOKENS to the WATSUL POT. The next player, in turn may CALL the 2 TOKEN bet or RAISE the bet by an additional 2 TOKENS thereby betting up to 4 TOKENS. The next player, in turn, may CALL that 4 TOKEN BET or RAISE it an additional 2 TOKENS. Only one round of betting is allowed. Each player must call the total bet or FOLD and thereby withdraw from that game. (The price of withdrawing from a game is the contribution of one chip for every peg that is left in your OUT BOX when you withdraw). At the end of the game, each non-winning player must place one chip in the WATSUL POT for each peg that remains in their OUT BOX. The contents of the WATSUL POT are then awarded to the winner. At the end of the WATSUL POKER TOURNAMENT, the player with the most chips wins the TOURNAMENT.
